Effect of curcumin and ginger extract on growth and biochemical indices in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Authors
Abstract:
In this experiment, the effect of curcumin and ginger hydroalcoholic extract on growth performance and biochemical indicators of blood in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were examined separately and in combination. The experiment was designed in a completely randomized design with zero levels (control), 0.5% ginger hydroalcoholic extract, 0.5% curcumin and 0.5% curcumin composition + 0.5% ginger hydroalcoholic extract in 4 treatments with 3 repetitions and Run for 8 weeks. At the end of expriment, fish blood serum was used to evaluate biochemical factors. The results showed that growth indices improved in treatments containing ginger hydrochloric acid extract and curcumin compared to the control group and had a significant difference (P <0.05). Current singular have shown that incorporating concentrations of curcumin and ginger individually and in combination significantly increases salmon growth and feed intake, but the best performance in the group containing ginger and curcumin extracts was observed in blood biochemical indicators. There was no difference between glucose, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and blood cholesterol in fish fed a control diet and diets fed different levels of curcumin and ginger extract and a combined diet (P <0.05). There was a significant difference in the amount of blood triglycerides and total protein in the control of control and treatment containing ginger extract compared to other treatments (P <0.05). Overall, the concentrations of curcumin and ginger individually and in combination improved growth and biochemical properties in rainbow trout.

full textThe effect of feeding strategies on growth performance, hematological indices, and biochemical parameters in male rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) broodstocks
This investigation was carried out to determine the effect of feeding strategies on growth performance, biochemical parameters, and hematological indices in male rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) broodstocks. For this purpose, 45 broodstocks with 475.55 ± 54.24 g (mean ± S.D) were divided into three treatments and fed at satiation, restricted feeding (50% of satiation limit), and starvation...

Rainbow trout are classified as Oncorhynchus mykiss, and as such belong to the same genus as Pacific salmon, and to the family Salmonidae, which includes Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), various trout (Salvelinus sp.), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), Arctic grayling (Thymallus arcticus) and whitefish (Coregonus sp.). Rainbow trout are native to areas around the North Pacific Ocean, from souther...
full textBiochemical characterization of microcystin toxicity in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
The kinetics and biochemical effects of microcystins in rainbow trout were studied with freeze-dried toxic cells of Microcystis aeruginosa, strain PCC 7806. Following in vivo exposure the changes in liver histology were observed over a 72 hr period and the absorption of microcystins from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood and liver, as well as the inhibition of hepatic protein phosphatas...
